Halimaton Mohamad (CA.M)
Manager, Shariah Section, Islamic Banking and Takaful Department, Bank Negara Malaysia

Halimaton Mohamad is a Shariah manager at Islamic Banking and Takaful Department (IBTD), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). She is mainly responsible for Shariah research and advisory. She also leads the screening process for the appointment of Shariah committee at Islamic financial institutions. Prior to joining the Shariah Section in 2019, she was exposed to various policy, talent and infrastructure development works within IBTD. In mid-2017, she was seconded to INCEIF as a special assistant to the Chief Financial Officer. She was also seconded to the Association of Shariah Advisors in Islamic Finance (ASAS) in mid-2016 to develop the professional development framework for Shariah fraternity. She is a Chartered Accountant certified by Malaysian Institute of Accountant (MIA). She published a case study on Shariah Committees and its Relevance in the Islamic Financial System as part of the MIA Islamic Finance Pupillage programme. Halimaton has played key roles in social work and development, where she co-founded the ‘Brain for Future’ project in 2015, an initiative to provide financial and mentoring assistance to underprivileged university students in Malaysia. She holds double bachelor’s degrees in accountancy and Shariah from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and National University of Malaysia (UKM), respectively.
